Though candle making may seem like a relatively simple process, the truth is that there is more than one way that a simple candle craft can turn in to a big mess in a hurry. To avoid potential problems and messes, here are a few candle making tips that can help you as you go along. By following theses candle making tips, the candle-making process will go much smoother.
It may seem simple, but before you start making candles, you need to make sure that you have all of your materials readily available. When you start to melt the wax, this can go very quickly and you don’t want to have to leave the wax unattended while you go searching for a thermometer, dye, or fragrance.
Remember that different kinds of wax melt differently. If you are new to candle making, try starting with a paraffin wax. This is the easiest type of wax to work with and can be purchased at pretty much any craft store.
When you are ready to pour your wax into a mold, it is a good idea to place a sheet of waxed paper of tin foil under where you will be pouring. This ensures that if you happen to spill a little or some wax drips out of the mold that you won’t be left scraping dried wax off of your countertops or kitchen table.
